Places to visit near Columbia Beach Resort

Local Area

Located on the southern coast of Cyprus, Columbia Beach Resort is close to some of the most popular tourist sites on the island. The traditional village of Pissouri and its beautiful bay are nearby, or the busy cosmopolitan town of Limassol and the ancient town of Paphos are both just a 30-minute drive from the resort.

Pissouri

This traditional Cypriot village is filled with charming taverns, cafés, and historic buildings. Spend a day relaxing on the peaceful Cape Aspro beach, with its white cliffs and crystal clear waters, or join in one of the village's many festivals that take place throughout the year

Although remote, Pissouri is only 30 minutes from both Limassol and Paphos, offering visitors the best of both worlds.

Limassol

Located in a beautiful spot along the coast, the lively town of Limassol is home to plenty of bars and restaurants, a castle, and the Cyprus Medieval Museum. The town is also famous for its dessert wine, Commandaria, which Richard the Lionheart proclaimed as "wine of kings, and the king of wines" during his wedding to a Spanish princess in 1191.

On the edge of the town are the ancient archaeological sites of the Kourion amphitheatre, Kolossi Castle, Amathus and the remains of the temple of Apollo Hylates. Venture slightly further afield and you will discover wineries, nature trails and traditional villages in the foothills of the Troodos mountain range.

Paphos

Just 40km along the coast is the historic town of Paphos. Here you will find ancient Roman mosaics, underground tombs dating from the 4th century BC, and a medieval castle. Unsurprisingly, the town has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

As well as visiting the town's many shops and restaurants, you can enjoy golf, horse-riding, sailing, hiking, and cycling, or attend one of the regular events or festivals.

Integral to the town of Paphos is the legend of the ancient Greek goddess Aphrodite and her birthplace at Petra tou Romiou, just a 10-minute drive from our resort, and the secluded grotto where she is said to have bathed are popular sites to visit.
